You are responsible for updating Workday and creating the appropriate life event during the plan year (adoption, birth, death, divorce, dissolution of domestic partnership, marriage, etc.) within 31 days of the event. Merely adding a dependent event will not update your benefits. Any changes you make must be consistent with the change in status and these changes must be submitted within 31 days of the event taking place. Failure to submit notification in a timely manner may impact dependent eligibility for health care continuation under COBRA, and may result in you incurring liability for medical expenses for non-eligible dependents.
