Medi-Cal is California's version of the federal Medicaid health coverage program. This is a public health care program for California residents with low income and resources. Medi-Cal provides a range of free or low-cost health services aimed to assist Californians with medical needs. If you need health benefits, you can apply for Medi-Cal anytime throughout the year.

Californians age 50 or older may Qualify for more Medi-Cal benefits

Beginning May 1, 2022, immigration status does not matter. California Residents who are 50 or older and who meet all Medi-Cal eligibility criteria may qualify for full-scope Medi-Cal.

Please report all updated contact information, such as your phone number, email address, or home address, to your local county office online or by phone at 800-223-8383, if you are Out of the State, please call (650) 594-5917, email: www.mybenefitscalwin.org or in person or you can drop off documents with your updated information using the drop boxes outside of our offices.

Older Adult Expansion and Asset Limit Changes

There are changes coming to Medi-Cal programs for older and disabled people, which will make it possible for more people to get Medi-Cal coverage. California residents who are 50 years of age or older who meet all Medi-Cal eligibility criteria will be able to get full scope Medi-Cal and immigration status does not matter. Other people will get to keep more property (like money in checking or savings accounts) while staying on Medi-Cal.
