911 Communications Dispatcher II – Lateral (V048)

What makes us the best? Our center dispatches for police, fire and medical and includes a progressive in-house training program, team-based shifts from a dispatcher-developed schedule, fire "incident dispatch" and law enforcement "tactical dispatch" programs as well as many other career development opportunities and programs.   In the summer of 2019, Public Safety Communications will move into a newly constructed building containing a 911 Dispatch Center, Office of Emergency Services and the County's Emergency Operation Center.  The new state of the art dispatch center will also include a brand a new Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.

Adult Psychiatrist - San Mateo Medical Center (F140Z)

Under general direction, provide professional adult psychiatric diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients in health care facilities and other settings located throughout San Mateo County.

Case Management Nurse (Clinical Nurse -F011)

Under general supervision, work in collaboration with other members of the health care team to provide, enhance or improve health care delivery to a specific patient population by evaluating nursing practices, developing methodologies and implementing standards of care, providing consultative services and by assessing and addressing patient and staff educational needs, in one or more clinical specialty areas.

 

Children’s Services Social Work Supervisor (G094)

This classification is the full supervisor level of the series. It is distinguished from the Social Work Supervisor classification for having responsibility for children and family welfare service units and cases.

Children’s Services Social Worker I/II/III (G090/G091/G092)

Under general supervision, Children's Services Social Workers provide a wide variety of child and family welfare services in such areas as information and referral, case management, protective services, court services, education and employment coordination for children, preventative services, health and mental health coordination and services, and other welfare services within the Human Services Agency.

Clinical Laboratory Scientist I/II (F074/F023)

Under general supervision, perform various qualitative and quantitative laboratory examinations on clinical specimens in order to provide data used in the diagnosis and therapeutic management of diseases.

Clinical Laboratory Scientist I is the journey level class in the medical technologist series with incumbents performing routine and specialized laboratory tests.  This class is flexibly staffed with Clinical Laboratory Scientist II and incumbents are expected to advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating the required proficiency.

Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is the advanced journey level class in the medical technologist series with incumbents independently performing a variety of complex and specialized laboratory tests.

Clinical Nurse Educator-Intensive Care Unit (F011AS)

Clinical Services Manager I - Nursing - Acute & Emergency Psychiatric Services (D144AY)

Under general direction, plan, organize, direct and supervise the 24/7 operations of an assigned nursing unit such as long term care, inpatient, critical care, psychiatry, correctional health, medical-surgery, or perioperative nursing unit, or administer a specialized nursing program such as public health nursing and education, infection control, case management and utilization review; provide staff support to higher level management within the assigned area of specialization; and perform related duties as assigned.

Community Mental Health & Quality Management Mental Health Nurse-BHRS (F049Z)

Under general supervision and as an interdisciplinary team member, provide crisis intervention services, conduct home visits for assessment and follow up purposes, perform initial intake assessments, provide medication therapy, provide psychoeducation to clients and families and provide individual group and family counseling and psychotherapy to clients as appropriate.

Critical Care Nurse - Intensive Care Unit (F022P)

Under direction, perform varied professional nursing duties with primary emphasis on professional nursing care for hospital or clinic patients; treat and educate patients, their families and the public about various medical conditions; record medical histories and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results; operate medical machinery; administer treatment and medications; assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation; and perform other duties as assigned and required by assigned clinical setting.

Deputy Sheriff - Lateral (H060AK)

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office employs over six hundred sworn and civilian employees. Deputy Sheriffs investigate crimes; patrol assigned areas; receive, supervise and transport inmates; act as bailiff or civil deputy; and perform all related duties in law enforcement and crime prevention as may be assigned under general supervision.

Deputy Sheriff Trainee (H061P)

Deputy Sheriff Trainee is the entry-level class of the Deputy Sheriff series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents receive Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Academy and/or field officer training in order to acquire a POST Basic Certificate. Incumbents perform a wide variety of peace officer tasks under close and direct supervision of experienced officers and are required to promote to the journey-level Deputy Sheriff classification after acquiring the education and experience required of the State of California POST Basic Certificate. At the higher journey level, Deputies investigate crimes; patrol assigned areas; receive, supervise and transport inmates; act as bailiff or civil deputy; and perform all related duties in law enforcement and crime prevention as may be assigned under general supervision.

Under direction, provide professional psychodiagnostic, psychotherapeutic, consultant and training and research work in a comprehensive community mental health program; and serve as a team leader within regional or program sub-units.

Medical Surgical Nurse (F031L)

Physician-Family Practice/Internal Medicine/Pediatrics (F124S)

Current residents of an accredited Pediatric, Family Practice or Internal Medicine Residency Program may apply prior to graduating from the program. Several San Mateo Medical Center clinics are accredited as National Health Services Corps sites and benefit from scholarships and loan repayment programs through this network. Board Certification or eligibility and enrollment as a provider of Medi-Cal/Medicare are preferred.

Psychiatric Social Worker I/II and Marriage & Family Therapist I/II (G035BJ)

Psychiatric Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists: Under general supervision, provide specialized psychiatric casework counseling and therapy services to either children and adolescents or seriously mentally ill adults in community, correctional, or inpatient settings; provide individual and group therapeutic counseling and case management services to clients having basic and/or severe emotional, family, and/or social adjustment problems; supervise graduate interns.

Social Workers provide a wide variety of welfare services in such areas as information and referral, protective services for children and adults, out-of-home services, childcare services, health related services, family planning, homemaker, chore services, employment services, and other welfare services within the Departments of Human Services and Health Services.
