Do you have an idea that would benefit or improve the County? Submit your idea for a chance to earn $1000!

Starting August 1st, you can submit your idea by completing the form before the September 15th deadline. 

SUBMISSION CRITERIA: Suggestions must include a description of the current problem; proposed solution and rationale; estimated benefits or cost savings; potential impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of the County government; and implementation considerations (if known). Only suggestions provided through a completed form, including an uploaded slide deck or one-page infographic, will be considered.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Suggestions should focus on generating and implementing ideas relating to cost saving measures, and operational efficiencies and improvements that benefit the organization and residents of San Mateo County. Only one submission per person. All regular, term, and extra-help employees are eligible to participate.

To be considered, suggestions must benefit the agency, its mission, or its internal processes. Ideas should go beyond everyday job responsibilities and should not:

  • duplicate existing initiatives or be part of the employee’s assignment

  • involve salary and benefit changes, including classification, position, salary, employee benefits, retirement, or any other employee compensation

  • require collective bargaining or meet and confer

  • include concerns about personal grievances or complaints

  • require legislative or court actions

EVALUATION/AWARDS: The top suggestions, as selected by a panel/department leadership based on feasibility of implementation and the above criteria, will be nominated for a cash prize.
