As the holidays draw near, families served by the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo (HACSM) can look forward to receiving toys and books made available through a collaboration between HACSM, the County Human Services Agency and the Peninsula Library System. Families on time limited programs are asked to complete a survey listing at least three appropriate gift options for each child living in the home, and as the holidays draw near, the child will receive at least one gift from their wish list. Families have until November 17th to complete the survey. Toys are distributed by HACSM staff during the second and third weeks of December. “Every year, all of us at the Housing Authority look forward to this tangible reminder that we provide more than rental assistance—first and foremost, we are here to support families”, commented Victoria Grant-Velgado who coordinates HACSM’s family-supporting activities like the toy distribution.
