The Home Sharing Program, run by HIP Housing—a nonprofit serving San Mateo County—connects community members who have a spare room or an Accessory Dwelling Unit (“Providers”) with individuals seeking affordable housing (“Seekers”). Matches may be arranged as a standard Rent Exchange or a Reduced Rent Exchange, in which lower rent is paired with help around the home.
