Beginning the week of July 20, 2026, San Mateo County Parks has worked to mitigate wildfire risk for coastside communities by creating a shaded fuel break at Quarry Park. Eucalyptus trees are being removed from an approximately 1-acre area along the border of the park off El Granada Blvd. The project is expected to conclude in early September. Cut logs will be moved along skid roads and temporarily staged at the base of the park before being hauled away.
For your safety, please remain clear of the work area. Crews will be removing dead and hazardous eucalyptus trees, hauling logs, and chipping some material onsite for ground cover. Equipment will generate dust and noise. Flying debris will cause a safety hazard. Cut stumps will be treated with herbicide. Help expedite this important work by obeying all road and trail closure signs and herbicide advisories.
