Are you passionate about the outdoors and want to preserve our county parks for generations to come?
If so, then being a park volunteer could be the perfect opportunity for you. We offer a variety of opportunities for individuals and groups to participate in as single events or ongoing commitments.
Become a Weed Warrior
Help combat invasive plants by removing weeds and fostering the growth of locals species.
Join SMC Parks Volunteer Stewardship
Join us on Saturdays for a variety of seasonal projects in a different park every week. Come when you can and no experience is necessary.
Work in the Mission Blue Nursery
Do you have a green thumb? If so, you're needed at San Bruno Mountain's Mission Blue Nursery to help grow plants for habitat restoration.
As a member of the trail patrol, you'll help answer visitors' questions and report trail conditions to rangers. The commitment is one patrol per month and you will receive training.
Volunteer Horse Patrol
The Volunteer Horse Patrol observes and reports trail use and conditions while riding horses within county parks, and informs and assists park visitors.

The Volunteer Experience
Corporate and community volunteer groups contribute to San Mateo County Parks in many ways. Learn how a real estate firm came together to support a treasured local marine preserve.
Volunteer Agreement Form
The San Mateo County Parks Department welcomes volunteers and greatly appreciates the time and energy volunteers devote to park projects and programs. As a volunteer, you should understand and agree to the information in the following agreement form before you perform any work in a County park. An additional agreement is required if you are volunteering during the COVID-19 pandemic.
