  • Intermittent Radio Road/Battery 59 Closures, Sep 9–Oct 1

    On weekdays between Monday, Sep 9 and Oct 1, weather permitting, workers will be at San Bruno Mountain treating invasive Jubata grass. Treatment goals include the protection of sensitive habitat from encroachment of Jubata, which spreads quickly, outcompetes native plants, and can disperse seed onto adjacent propertiesThis project will include up to 5 days of work, involving spot application of the herbicide glyphosate directly to the plants. During the treatment, partial (one-way) trail closures may take place along Radio Road and the Battery 59 road. Please use caution if hiking or biking near closures, as two way traffic may be merged into one lane.

    Intermittent Trail Closures on Ridge & Saddle Area, Sep 16–Nov 1

    On weekdays between Monday, Sep 16 and Nov 1, weather permitting, workers will be at San Bruno Mountain treating scrub and invasive weed species such as gorse and broom. Treatment goals include the protection of sensitive grasslands and butterfly communities from competition by encroaching scrub and fast-spreading non-native species. Work will include up to 26 days of work, involving foliar or cut/stem applications of the herbicides triclopyr, aminopyralid, and/or imazapyr directly to the target plants. During the treatment, intermittent trail closures may take place on the following trails:

    • Saddle Trail
    • Youth Camp Trail
    • Bog trail
    • Old Ranch Road Trail
    • Ridge Trail
    • The trail from Hillside Blvd to the Ridge Trail
    • Any social trails in the Southeast Ridge area
    • The trail up to the Ridge Trail from Buckeye Canyon
