New ADA accessible picnic sites and restroom, plus interpretive area

San Bruno Mountain’s Day Use Improvement Project construction was completed in May 2026 and a ribbon-cutting was held on May 13. The redesign of this area focused on accessibility and was guided by community input gathered through surveys conducted between 2022 and 2023.

Six of the park’s nine new picnic sites are fully accessible to people of all abilities. Picnic sites feature new BBQ grills, tables and trash receptacles and are configured in 1, 2, or 4 table groupings. All sites are connected by circular paved pathway. Picnic sites are available on a first come, first served basis.

Near the park's main entrance, a new, larger restroom has been constructed featuring four all-gender and ADA accessible toilet rooms with sinks and changing tables. Interpretive displays and an exhibit and gathering space similar in size to the restroom are located nearby.

The $2 million improvement project was funded by Measure K. Board Supervisor David Canepa, advocated for park improvements and Measure K funding.
