Closed Areas in Pescadero Creek Park
Equestrians and hikers visiting and staying at Sam McDonald Park this summer, please note that trails and trail camps in nearby Pescadero Creek Park are closed while crews conduct forest health and fuel reduction work. This project is funded by CAL FIRE Forest Health Grant as part of California Climate Investments and is managed by San Mateo County Parks, San Mateo RCD and Auten Resources Consulting. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as we work to improve the overall health of the forest and help ensure access in the future.
On August 10, the closure has been largely lifted to increase visitor access through the rest of the summer. The remaining closures are:
- Old Haul Road from trail marker 48 at the Hoffman Creek Trailhead entering Memorial Park to trail marker 58
- Pomponio Trail from trail marker 58 on Old Haul Road to where the trail meets Pescadero Creek
- Shaw Flat Trail Camp
- The Tarwater Trailhead and parking lot and Tarwater Trail Camp
The closure on Old Haul Road will remain in place for approximately two weeks. Then, as work progresses, the closure will move to another portion of Old Haul Road.
