Closure on Old Stage Road, June 22 through July 10

From Monday, June 22 through Friday, June 10, Old Stage Road will be closed between the Education Center and its intersection with Franciscan Trail (trail markers 1 to 6) while contract crews create a shaded fuel break.

Additionally, on Wednesday, June 24, the Edgewood Trail entrance will be closed for one day while crews create defensible space around the Education Center. Both parking lots at the park entrance will remain open.

The approximately 7-acre shaded fuel break will be created by removing understory vegetation extending 100 feet on either side of Old Stage Road, and removing hazardous trees 200 feet on either side of the road. Crews will primarily remove vegetation by hand, except in select areas where mechanical equipment will be used to remove poison oak. This shaded fuel break will mitigate wildfire risk and enhance public safety by reducing fire fuels. Ingress and egress will be improved for emergency vehicles along the fire road. Parks staff has worked with Friends of Edgewood to protect special and sensitive species in the area and minimize excessive disturbance to the landscape.

Closures on Ridgeview Trail Through Sep 2026

Through September 2026, Ridgeview Trail will be closed between trail markers 13 & 15 while PG&E works to upgrade a natural gas pipeline.
