  • Edgewood Park Trail Closures

Closure on Sylvan & Baywood Glen Trails Through Aug 7 for Wildfire Fuel Management

Starting tentatively the week of July 19 and going for approximately two weeks, San Mateo County Parks will be using goats as a tool to manage vegetative fuels in the shaded fuel break along the southeastern boundary of Edgewood Park. While the herd of 300 goats is grazing in the area, the following trails will be closed through Friday, August 7.

    • Sylvan Trail - between trail markers 3 & 16
    • Baywood Glen Trail

Dates are subject to change. Please note that solar powered electrical fencing will be used to contain the herd, and shepherd and two guard dogs will be on-site at all times. Help us expedite this important work by obeying trail closure signs and avoiding the area.

This is a pilot maintenance project for continued management of the shaded fuel break created along park boundary in 2022. This continues to be a high priority project area for San Mateo County Parks due to the high fuel load in this portion of the park and proximity to the residential community of Emerald Hills.

Closures on Ridgeview Trail Through Sep 2026

Through September 2026, Ridgeview Trail will be closed between trail markers 13 & 15 while PG&E works to upgrade a natural gas pipeline.
