The Department of Housing of the County of San Mateo is pleased to announce an opportunity for qualified developers to collaborate with the County of San Mateo on a new affordable housing development. An RFP (Request for Proposals) has been issued to select a developer to build and manage affordable housing on a county-owned property located at 626-640-648 Walnut Street in San Carlos, California.
Project Highlights:
- Property Size and Location: Approximately 26,500 square feet in downtown San Carlos. Ideal for transit-oriented development.
- Development Objectives:
- A minimum of 75 affordable housing units targeting households at or below 80% AMI (Area Median Income), with specific allocations for Extremely Low-Income households and those experiencing homelessness, as well as a preference for City and County Employees.
- Integration of green building standards and energy-efficient systems.
RFP Timeline for Participants:
- RFP Issue Date: July 21, 2025
- Virtual Pre-Submission Conference: August 11, 2025
- Deadline for Questions: August 15, 2025
- Proposal Submission Deadline: September 12, 2025, by 4:00 PM PDT
