The San Mateo County Department of Housing has successfully competed for an award of $5 million to implement the State’s Local Housing Trust Fund (LHTF) program. The LHTF program provides matching funds to local and regional housing trust funds dedicated to the creation, rehabilitation, or preservation of affordable housing, transitional housing and emergency shelters. The LHTF award will match Measure K and other County funds made available annually for the development of affordable housing through the Department’s annual Affordable Housing Fund (AHF). In accepting the award, Director Raymond Hodges recognized the work of Barbara Deffenderfer, Housing Program Manager, and others on the team in assembling a competitive application that leveraged the AHF program’s 12 years of successful lending to create affordable housing in San Mateo County.
