FY 2016-17 Measure K Request One-Time Grant of $227,850 to LifeMoves for Repairs to Redwood Family House and Haven Family House
This is a $227,850 one-time request for grant monies that will promote the health and comfort of homeless residents living in LiveMoves’ housing by funding repairs to Redwood Family House and Haven Family House.
The County Manager’s Office will work with LifeMoves staff on terms of the grant agreement for this one-time contribution. Project completion date is anticipated before June 30, 2017. LifeMoves: LifeMoves is a leading provider of shelter/housing and supportive services in San Mateo County. LifeMoves provides interim and stabilization shelter, permanent supportive housing, outreach, rapid re-housing, and homelessness prevention services.
Through community support—including financial contributions, in-kind donations, and volunteerism—LifeMoves empowers those in our community struggling with poverty and homelessness to gain valuable skills that lead to long term self-sufficiency.
1) LifeMoves’ Redwood Family House is located in Redwood City. Redwood Family House serves 9 homeless families each night. Redwood Family House requires a commercial water heater, security cameras, sub-floor and flooring replacement in 9 apartment bathrooms, balcony repair, roof replacement ($197,250 total).
2) LifeMoves’s Haven Family House is located in Menlo Park. The Haven Family House facility serves 23 homeless families each night, half of which are Veteran head-of-households. Haven requires security cameras and also lights in the Children’s Play Area ($30,600 total).
Each of the items lists is for facility safety, general hygiene of the units and family well-being. The total request is for $227,850.
Total Measure K Request: $227,850 The release of funds will be contingent on the execution of a Grant Agreement providing for the County’s confirmation of the expenditure of funds during FY 2016-2017 for the purposes stated herein.
