The Latino Community Foundation (LCF), the only statewide foundation in California on a mission to unleash the power of Latinos, has been selected by the California State Census Office to lead statewide efforts in counting California's Latino community in the 2020 Census.
From the Central Valley and Los Angeles to the Bay Area and San Diego, there are approximately five million Latinos who live in hard-to-count communities across the state. Over the next year, LCF will work with elected officials, community health clinics, Latino small-businesses, Latino media, and other stakeholders to reach Latinos across the state.
"The 2020 Census is the most consequential in our nation's history. The face of our country is changing-- and we should be proud of our diversity. The Latino Community Foundation is thrilled to receive this funding from the California State Census Office. We are ready to leverage the power of our Latino Giving Circle Network, community partners, and advocates in securing our constitutional right to be counted. We recognize the leadership of Governor Gavin Newsom and community advocates who have prioritized the Census and lead boldly for all Californians," said Jacqueline Martinez Garcel, CEO of the Latino Community Foundation.
On Wednesday April 24 in Sacramento, LCF will host its 6th Annual Latino Policy Summit where Latino leaders from across the state will gather to discuss ways to activate Latino communities for the 2020 Census. Details can be found here.
