The Big Lift is the name of a bold initiative that aims to improve the reading scores -- and, by extension, the future academic success -- of children from families with low incomes or other hardships.
Through The Big Lift, seven school districts in San Mateo County receive funding to provide quality preschool, enrichment activities, teacher training and summer learning camps for young children. The goal is to raise the percentage of third graders reading at grade level from 50 percent to 80 percent.
On this map you will find the locations of the seven San Mateo County school districts along with demographic and student performance data. On the Inspiring Summers 2019 tab, you will find information about and registration links for "Inspring Summers" camps. These camps, which are an initiative of The Big Lift, are offered at no cost for eligible families.
