Changes are coming to Medi-Cal, programs for older and disabled people, making it possible for more people to qualify.
Asset Limit Changes
July 1, 2022 the asset limit for Medi-Cal programs for people who are 65+ or disabled is increasing. These changes apply to things you own, which can be counted for Medi-Cal eligibility. If you believe you may be eligible for MediCal once the new limits start, you are encouraged to apply.
Older Adult Expansion
Older Adult Expansion extends eligibility for full scope Medi-Cal to all people who are age 50+ effective May 1, 2022 meeting all Medi-Cal eligibility criteria, in which immigration status does not matter. Those receiving restricted scope Medi-Cal in May 2022 you will be automatically transitioned to full scope Medi-Cal. If you receive a renewal notice, please complete and return, so there is no processing delay. Nonrestricted Medi-Cal you can be applied for on line, by mail, by telephone, at your local county office, by fax or in person.
