COVID-19 San Mateo County Eviction Frequently Asked Questions Available

On March 24, 2020, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors adopted an emergency regulation that places a temporary Countywide moratorium on evictions from residential units for non-payment of rent by tenants directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and certain other no-fault causes.

Media Tour of Federal Medical Station at San Mateo County Event Center

The County’s Joint Information Center today provided a media tour of the Federal Medical Station set up at the San Mateo County Event Center to provide low-acuity care for patients needing to rotate out of hospitals

The Federal Medical Station won’t be used unless it’s necessary to “decompress” the patient load at area hospitals, whose resources may need to be devoted to caring for COVID-19 patients.

The tour was limited to select representatives from broadcast and print media to maintain social distancing. The County thanks members of the media for participating and sharing the news they gathered in a “pool” arrangement with other outlets.

You can find photos from the tour and follow us at https://twitter.com/sanmateoco

How Will COVID-19 Impact the Census?

Today is Census Day in the United States, a day when all residents are asked to fill out a form listing where they live on that day, the number of people in their household and other basic information.

The County and partners conducted a virtual town hall to encourage residents to fill out the Census online or by mail, raise awareness and discuss the impacts of COVID-19.

You can view a recording of the townhall on our Facebook page at https://bit.ly/2R34OGh

The Census, conducted every 10 years, helps determine how billions of dollars in federal funds are distributed for health care, road repair, early learning programs and other services. The nonpartisan Census Bureau conducts the count and is required by law to turn in state population counts to the president by Dec. 31.
