This 2026 One Day Homeless Count identified 2,240 individuals who were experiencing homelessness in the early morning hours of January 29, 2026. Of those, 1,095 were staying in shelters, up 110 from the prior Count, while 1,145 were unsheltered, essentially unchanged. More people experiencing homelessness were staying in shelter during this year’s Count, continuing a trend seen in recent years.
The County’s Human Services Agency (HSA) coordinates the biennial Count, which is known nationally as the Point-In-Time (PIT) Count.
The 2026 Count was conducted in the early morning hours of Thursday, January 29, 2026, and in-depth surveys with people experiencing homelessness were collected over the course of the following week.
HSA appreciates the participation of all the community partners and volunteers who made the Count possible.
The Executive Summary for the 2026 One Day Homeless Count is available now. The Full Report will be available in fall of 2026.
