  • San Mateo County District Attorney Stephen M. Wagstaffe and all members of the District Attorney's Office  are saddened and horrified by the tragic massacre of 19 children and two adults in Uvalde, Texas.  We join with others in our outrage that we cannot keep guns out of the hands of such evil people.  We cannot quietly accept the loss of the lives of children in Sandy Hook, Parkland, Florida

and now Uvalde, Texas.  We once again call on our Federal and California legislators to enact laws to help stop the carnage of gun violence in America.   At the District Attorney’s Office, we will continue to aggressively prosecute and punish persons who violate the gun laws we have in California.

But the time has passed to believe this is enough.
