Office of Community Affairs

What does “community” mean to you? To the Office of Community Affairs (OCA) it means everything. Our services and projects are all designed with one thing in mind - - those who live in our community. Through our civic engagement, we make sure we capture your voice to understand how to inform their strategies.  Community Affairs is a division of the County Executive's Office, serving as a liaison between County departments and the community to facilitate information sharing, feedback, provide immigrant services to residents. Whether that’s through public art and beautification projects, immigrant integration support, Census 2020 and community engagement / meetings, we make sure that our residents have the information and resources to understand the latest initiatives from our office and an opportunity to provide input. Community Engagement

San Mateo County residents know firsthand what is most important to a thriving community. When everyone in the community works together, we can ensure changes we make are in line with the needs and desires of the people who live, work and play in San Mateo County. We encourage you to engage with us – stay up to date on events and happenings through our announcements, sign up for volunteer opportunities, report safety and beautification issues and familiarize yourself with our public art projects, as an artist or art lover. Census 2020

San Mateo County worked with community organizations and leaders across the county to ensure there was a complete and accurate count of every resident living in our county. The Census Team worked diligently to make sure that every housing unit received a survey in the 2020 Census, and as a first step, we submitted an updated address file to the U.S. Census Bureau. We then formed committees, work groups, and community action teams to outreach and support residents in participating in the census. Visit the Census 2020 Home Page
