Redwood City – A Redwood City resident has been appointed to the San Mateo County 2021 Supervisorial District Lines Advisory Commission as the 15th and final member.
Nicole Davis joins the commission as a representative from District 4, which includes Redwood City, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park (east of El Camino Real) and the unincorporated community of North Fair Oaks.
Davis was among eight residents who applied for an open seat representing District 4. She was recommended for appointment by a panel representing local chapters of the League of Women Voters following an extensive recruitment process.
In an unrelated development, San Carlos resident Mark Olbert has been appointed to the commission representing District 3, which includes San Carlos,Half Moon Bay, Pacifica, Woodside, Portola Valley and Atherton and much of the coastside. Olbert previously served as a commission alternate.
The all-volunteer commission is holding a series of public hearings to gather public input on the supervisorial district boundaries and recommend possible changes based on population data from the 2020 Census. Every 10 years, local governments use new data to review their district lines to ensure each district has roughly the same number of people.
The next meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021. Once posted, the agenda and other details, including how to participate virtually, can be found at https://smcdistrictlines.org/schedule/
