  • San Mateo County has received a claim from Mr. Victor Aenlle, and as is typical, the Board of Supervisors will consider it at a future meeting. However, the claim contains numerous inaccuracies and appears to spread false information, including about County enforcement activities responding to housing conditions on his property.

For instance, Mr. Aenlle misrepresents the stated purpose of the Cordell Report. As made clear in the very first paragraph of the report, Judge Cordell was retained by the County Attorney’s Office to “conduct an independent fact-finding investigation into complaints and concerns that current and former members of the Sheriff’s Office have about Victor Aenlle.”

Mr. Aenlle also disregards the well-documented reasons why his property is under investigation—reasons that are unrelated to the County Executive. The Farmworker Housing Compliance Task Force was convened in early 2023 after the mass shooting in Half Moon Bay. Over the course of two years, some 56 properties with farmworker housing, including Mr. Aenlle’s property, were inspected. Media reports have extensively detailed serious concerns about the condition of Mr. Aenlle’s property, including unsafe and unpermitted housing and contaminated water sources, resulting in the red tagging of one of the housing units on the property. Relevant coverage includes: ABC7 News, Coastside News, and the San Mateo Daily Journal.

Additionally, the claim includes an unsubstantiated accusation that individuals are discriminating against him as a Latino, without presenting any evidence or rationale.

Given the many legal and factual errors, this claim should not be treated as credible.
