    Redwood City – The County of San Mateo continues to work to protect public health and safety in response to the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19.

    The County of San Mateo’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains open to coordinate countywide response and communications in response to the situation. The EOC’s Joint Information Center will provide daily status reports Monday through Friday until further notice. Today’s report:

    Great Plates Delivered Program Extended to July 10
    San Mateo County’s Great Plates Delivered program that provides delivery of nutritious meals from 60 local restaurants to 1,298 qualifying county residents has received additional funding and will continue to July 10, 2020.  Senior applications to the program are being accepted at (800) 675-8437.

    The program meets the needs of residents who may have difficulty accessing meals while sheltering in place and supports local restaurants impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Funding is through state and federal emergency management agencies.

    To qualify you must be 65 and older, or age 60-64 at high-risk from COVID-19, are COVID-19 positive or have been exposed to COVID-19 and live alone or with one other eligible adult.

    County’s Art Commission Awards COVID-19 Relief Grants
    Today the San Mateo County Arts Commission awarded $168,600 in COVID-19 Relief Grants to 32 arts/culture and arts services nonprofit organizations to help them recover from the financial hit of the ongoing pandemic. The 32 grants awarded range in size from $4,900 to $8,000.

    “The commission is very proud of its grantees and their contribution to the health and vitality of the community.  I have received many calls and emails expressing deep gratitude for the commission’s support as these organizations try to financially recover while developing strategies to serve our county in a changing landscape,” said Arts Commission Director Robin Rodricks.

    San Mateo County Health has updated the number of positive cases to 2,475 as of June 9, 2020.

    Residents with non-medical, non-emergency questions about the coronavirus can call 211 at any time, day or night. Callers from landlines and cellular telephones located within San Mateo County are connected with a trained service professional from 211, a confidential service available in 180 languages.
