Redwood City — The County of San Mateo Veterans Commission is seeking nominations for three awards that recognize outstanding contributions by and for those who have served in the U.S. armed services.
Nominations are due Aug. 22, 2022.
The three categories of honorees are:
- Veteran of the Year for a veteran who lives in San Mateo County and has gone above and beyond the scope of their daily work in service to the community;
- Patriot of the Year for a non-veteran who lives in San Mateo County and works with veterans, veterans causes or organizations; and
- Enterprise of the Year for a for-profit or not-for-profit enterprise that has significant operations in San Mateo County working with veterans or to improve the lives of veterans.
Nominees for Veteran of the Year must have been honorably discharged from the U.S. armed services branches either on active duty, reserves or guard components.
The Veterans Commission will honor its award recipients at the Seventh Annual Veterans Recognition luncheon on Nov. 10, 2022, at the Westin San Francisco Airport Hotel in Millbrae. This marks a return to an in-person luncheon after COVID-19 caused last year’s event to be held virtually. This year’s keynote speaker will be U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Thomas A. Cropper (Ret.), President of California State University Maritime Academy.
Nomination forms, more details and information on past recipients are available here.
