The voters of San Mateo County have twice voiced their resounding support for improving the quality of life for all by endoring a local tax to meet local needs.
In 2016, more than 70 percent of voters approved a measure to extend a previously approved half-cent sales tax for an additional 20 years, until 2043. The sales tax extension -- Measure K on the ballot -- raises approximately $85 million a year.

Join us as we take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Regional Operations Center (ROC) -- the new hub for disaster response and recovery. Now taking shape on the County Center campus, the ROC’s 37,000 square feet will be outfitted with the latest emergency communications equipment and will be the home for the County’s 9-1-1 Public Safety Dispatchers and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Area Office of Emergency Services.
In the event of a disaster or major emergency response, the ROC can sustain emergency workers 24 hours a day for up to a week with power, food and water.
The ROC is the largest single investment of your funds from Measure K, the voter-approved half-cent sales tax for local needs.
