Important note: The Board of Supervisors approved the following recommendation on May 24, 2016:

DISTRICT 4 (Supervisor Warren Slocum) FY 2015-17 Measure A Request Peninsula Family Service

Purchase of equipment for computer lab, kitchen, recreational and educational activities for children ages six weeks to 5 years old and adults 55 and over: $18,152 One-Time Grant

This is an $18,152 one-time request for grant monies that will promote engagement, recreation and education for children and older adults. The County Manager’s Office will work with Peninsula Family Service staff on terms of the grant agreement for this one-time contribution.

Peninsula Family Service:

Haven House Early Learning Center (in collaboration with LifeMoves) and Redwood Early Learning Center (in collaboration with Sequoia Union High School District) provide quality and nurturing environments to support roughly 80 children ages six weeks to 5 years and their families on annual basis.

The Fair Oaks Adult Activity Center is the only senior center in North Fair Oaks. It serves over 3,000 adults 55 years old and older who are primarily low-income with enrichment classes and a lunch program.

The requested $18,152 would allow for the purchase of materials that would enhance the experiences of participants in their respective programs.

Total Measure A Request: $18,152

The release of funds will be contingent on the execution of a Grant Agreement providing for the County’s confirmation of the expenditure of funds during FY 2015-16 for the purposes stated herein.
