Notice regarding Measure K for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 fiscal years:
The Board of Supervisors develops strategies to meet very specific goals with funding from Measure K, a countywide half-cent sales tax extension.
Substantial funds are currently being invested in building a seismically safe Regional Operations Center for 9-1-1 Public Safety Communications and large-scale emergency response, replacing fire stations and fire-fighting apparatus, renovating libraries, improving parks, providing targeted services to children, youth, seniors and veterans, and securing, protecting and building affordable housing.
Please note that the Board awards the majority of Measure K funds to internal County departments and external organizations identified by our staff.

Budget Process
County staff is developing the Recommended Budget for FYs 2017-19 based on priorities for Measure K funding set by the Board of Supervisors.
The County is not soliciting letters of intent or proposals for Measure K funding from nonprofit, philanthropic and other organizations for the FY 2017-19 fiscal years. Staff anticipates extremely limited funds will be available for new initiatives.
Requests for Proposals and Notices of Funding Availability
County departments may issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or Notices of Funding Availability (NOFAs) to fill specific goals set by the Board of Supervisors with Measure K funds. Potential applicants are encouraged to check the Purchasing Division website and individual department websites for RFPs and NOFAs.
Service Gaps and Unanticipated Needs
Limited Measure K funds may be available to fill gaps in services or unanticipated needs in a supervisorial district.
Organizations with proposals to fill district-specific needs should contact the appropriate Board office. Proposals for district-specific funds must closely align with Board-approved priorities to be considered for funding.

What the County Does Not Fund with Measure K:
- Fundraising or annual campaigns
- Paid advertisements
- Political activities, lobbying
- Private, for-profit businesses unless under unique circumstances
