About the Safety Net Dashboard

The Safety Net Dashboard provides a snapshot of enrollment and demographic trends across public assistance programs administered by the Human Services Agency, including Medi-Cal (Medicaid), CalFresh (SNAP), and CalWORKs (TANF).

The dashboard is designed to support general awareness, planning, and public understanding of how these vital programs are serving residents across San Mateo County.

What the Data Shows

  • Program enrollment over time, including recent increases or decreases

  • Distribution of clients by residence (city/jurisdiction and Core Service Area)

  • Demographic trends, including age, race/ethnicity, and primary language spoken

  • High-level projections related to recent policy changes (H.R. 1)

  • Data is presented in aggregate and de-identified to protect client privacy

Data is refreshed monthly using information from CalSAWS the statewide eligibility system.
