The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors since 2013 has invested $83 million in local tax funds to build, preserve and improve housing that is affordable to all income levels. Of that amount, the Board has committed $64,631,995 from Measure K, a voter-approved half-cent sales tax extension for local needs.

The County's contributions have led to the construction of 325 affordable units with 173 additional units under construction and 691 units under construction. Another 180 units have been pulled off the private rental market and will operate as affordable housing for the long term.
