Self-Help for the Elderly was founded in 1966 and has provided assistance and support to seniors since, in 5 Bay Area counties: San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, and Contra Costa. They provide trustworthy and devoted care for older adults to promote their independence, dignity, and self-worth. The organization’s programs and services help guide seniors to wellness and happiness. It serves approximately 40,000 older adults age 60-plus, of whom 80% speak Cantonese. Immigrants are a part of our communities and we need to make sure our communities have the resources to meet the needs of all their members.
