Redwood City — The March 4, 2025, special election on Measure A will move forward after Superior Court Judge Nicole Healy issued a ruling rejecting Sheriff Christina Corpus' arguments seeking to cancel the special election and dismissing her lawsuit.
Healy issued a “tentative” ruling yesterday, February 25, 2025, finding in favor of the County of San Mateo. Corpus decided not to challenge the ruling, meaning that Judge Healy’s order is now final and the hearing set for this afternoon will therefore not take place.
“From the beginning, we expected the court to agree that the County properly placed Measure A on the ballot for the March 4, 2025, special election. We are pleased at this outcome. We believe that the sheriff’s decision not to challenge the tentative ruling reflects the strength of the County’s legal position, as well as of the care with which Judge Healy prepared her decision,” said County Attorney John Nibbelin.
The judge specifically rejected the sheriff’s argument that the election needed be to stopped because the County was biased against her.
