Redwood City – The County of San Mateo continues to work to protect public health and safety in response to the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19.
The County of San Mateo’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains open to coordinate countywide response and communications in response to the situation. The EOC’s Joint Information Center will provide daily status reports Monday through Friday until further notice. Today’s report:
San Mateo County Health Order Aligns with State; Personal Services May Resume Business
With the new health order that took effect yesterday, as the county follows state’s guidelines, personal services like nail salons, body waxing, and tattoo parlors may create safety plans and resume operations June 19, 2020.
All San Mateo County businesses must adhere to the local order’s COVID-19 safety measures and follow state guidance, including implementation of a social distancing protocol and written health and safety plans. See news release https://bit.ly/2YaYlgn

What to Expect When Being Tested for COVID-19
Testing for COVID-19 is available throughout the county six days a week and without cost to anyone who wants a test including those without medical insurance, although an appointment is required.
For those who are curious or even a little hesitant, the County of San Mateo’s Joint Information Center has issued a video in English and Spanish that provides an inside look of COVID-19 testing in San Mateo County. The video guides viewers through the entire appointment process from arrival, to the self-swab sample collection process under the guidance of a health professional and ends with the sample hand off. Information on how to arrange testing if you don’t have access to the internet or a computer is also included.
