November 2, 2022
  • The County's new Office of Arts and Culture will see an infusion of $100,000 to help launch countywide programs and projects.

The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, voted 5-0 to allocate the funds from the Measure K local half-cent sales tax.

The funds will be used as a match for specific grants as well as to support numerous programs and projects, as outlined here:

The County created the Office of Arts and Culture in 2021 to support the San Mateo County Arts Commission with the ultimate goal of elevating the arts and culture as a key driver in enhancing quality of life, education and the economy.

In a separate action, the Board approved $20,000 in Measure K funding to Casa Circulo Cultural, a nonprofit organization based in North Fair Oaks, to support a feasibility study for the potential creation of a permanent arts center. Learn more.
