Women’s View 2022, the 17th annual San Mateo County Women’s Art Show, recognizes, celebrates, and honors women, non-binary, and gender nonconforming artists who live or work in San Mateo County. Women’s View 2022 is proudly co-sponsored by San Mateo County’s Commission on the Status of Women in March, nation Women’s History Month.

This year, artwork from over 70 local artists will be on view in The Caldwell & Community Galleries. The exhibition features a diverse range of medium: painting, photography, charcoal drawing, mixed media, digital painting, and yarn work.

The artists featured in Women’s View 2022 likewise represent a great diversity reflective of the larger San Mateo County community. In their artistic practices, these artists draw on a vast array of heritages, lived experiences, and finely tuned imaginations.

Up to three $100 awards and three Honorable Mentions will be determined by this year’s juror, Alena Sauzade, Gallery Director and Collections Manager at San Jose State University. Sauzade, who holds a Ph.D. in Art History from Stony Brook University, has launched a number of initiatives, including California Ecologies, a  collaborative and multidisciplinary multiyear curatorial program that focuses on exploring California’s past and present and brings a diverse group of artists, writers, researchers and professionals together in dialogue about the future of our state.
