The La Honda Fire Brigade has received a new fire engine to protect its community and residents of the San Mateo County south coast.

The Board of Supervisors granted the brigade $450,000 in Measure A funds (view the agreement) while the residents donated more than $100,000. Donations ranged from as small as $5 to several thousand dollars.

The bridgade showcased the new engine at an open house on Oct. 16, 2016. The engine is now located at San Mateo County Fire Station 57 at 8945 La Honda Road.

Supervisors on June 18, 2013, created a County Fire Vehicle Replace Fund with proceeds from the Measure A countywide sales tax.
