About the Project
The slip-out repair project will repair the failing embankments and damaged pavements near 2665 Higgins Canyon Road. The work to be done consists, in general, of installing micro piles, soil nail wall, drainage improvements, roadway and shoulder reconstruction, guardrail, and rock slope protection revetment with plantings and erosion control/slope protection.

- February 2023 – Subsurface geotechnical investigation.
- May 2023 - Field Meeting with FEMA for site assessment and repair scope development.
- June 2023 - Received and reviewing Geotechnical Investigation Report.

July 2023 - Developed repair work design and scope.

August 2023 - Finalized repair work design and scope. Construction is anticipated to begin mid-September 2023.

September 2023 – Pre-construction surveys have been completed. Contractor re-graded the uneven and damaged road near 2180 Higgins Canyon Road. Construction is anticipated to start in October 2023.

October 2023 – Contractor performed clear-grubbing, grading earthworks/excavation, shotcrete application, and the installation of soil nails/micro-piles in preparation for the construction of outboard shotcrete wall. Construction of the shotcrete wall face, structural backfilling, shoulder build-out, and paving will be completed by the end of November or early December, if weather permits. Higgins Canyon Road at this section will remain close to through traffic, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

November 2023 - Contractor completed shotcret wall. Shoulder build-out, ashpalt paving, and guardrail installation, and other remaining work will be completed by January 2024. Higgins Canyon Road at this section will remain close to through traffic, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
- December 2023 - Contractor completed shoulder build-out, asphalt paving, and guardrail. This section of the road will be open to public no later than 12/23/2023. - January 2024 - Construction has been completed and the road is now open to the public. Minor punch list items are being addressed.
