Activities Highlight Committee
In their role as mentors, Group Supervisors engage with youth at the Youth Services Center – Juvenile Hall, Camp Glenwood and Camp Kemp to promote positive behavior through special events led by the newly formed Activities Highlight Committee. Since January 2018, the committee has organized a movie night, a videogame tournament, a CrossFit event and a summer carnival – inviting youth to collaborate in planning process. Only youth who demonstrate positive behavior are allowed to participate; in some cases, attendance is based on “positive behavior tickets” given out weekly by the staff. The result is twofold – a creative incentive for positive behavior and a chance for youth to work constructively with institutions staff to plan their own events.
