The investigative team includes police detectives, prosecutors, social workers, and trained forensic interviewers. This model allows the child and their supportive adult the opportunity to meet all the professionals involved in the case, ask questions, and share concerns.
Forensic Interviewer
A specially trained Forensic Interviewer will interview your child in a private, age-appropriate room, using developmentally appropriate techniques. The rest of the team will observe and record the interview, allowing them to identify investigative questions and reduce the need for follow-up interviews.
Police, Social Workers, and Prosecutors
Police Detectives and Social Workers are responsible for investigating crimes. The detective, social worker (if applicable), and the Prosecutor will observe the interview and identify additional investigative questions to minimize the need for follow-up interviews. If appropriate, the detective will present the case to the prosecutor, who will determine whether criminal charges will be filed. If a social worker is involved, they will assess your child's safety and work with supportive adults to ensure your child's well-being.
