REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Controller Bob Adler today released for public review the San Mateo County Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2012.

The CAFR contains the County’s complete financial statements and other financial information. All of the statements are audited by an independent certified public accountant and provide the public with the confidence that all financial reporting is accurate, open and transparent.

The CAFR also contains information about the local economy, the structure of the County government, the County’s future financial plans, the County’s financial policies, and significant County projects. This high-level information can be found in the Letter of Transmittal (Introductory Section), Management’s Discussion and Analysis (Financial Section) and the Statistical Section.

The GFOA, Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to San Mateo County for its CAFR for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011. This was the 12th consecutive year that the County has received this prestigious award. Once again the County has received an unqualified, “clean” opinion from the independent auditors selected by the Grand Jury.
