As Deputy Director of Facilities, Tory Newman oversees the maintenance, operation, and improvement of County owned facilities. Tory joined the County in 2018 as a Construction Project Manager and was promoted to Senior Capital Project Manager in 2020. In December 2022, he was promoted to the role of Deputy Director of Public Works. As Deputy Director, Tory has worked to coordinate and align the different sections of Facilities to improve the services provided to the staff and visitors of County buildings.
Tory has more than 25 years of public sector experience. Before joining the County, Tory spent 9 years with a firm focused on demolition, excavation, underground utilities, hazardous materials, seismic retrofit, and renovation of commercial buildings where he ran day-to-day business as the operations manager. He has held a Class A-General Engineering license from the California Contractors State License Board, an OSHA 500 Trainer Certificate, and has extensive experience in facilities management and improvements.
Tory lives with his family in Redwood City, where he was born and raised.
