Proposition 36 legislation was designed to facilitate the treatment process for selected substance abuse offenders. State funding for this program ended on March 31, 2011. Due to the lack of funding the Probation Department no longer has a designated Deputy Probation Officer to work with probationers sentenced according to Proposition 36.

Also, due to a lack of funding the Proposition 36 Treatment Court was discontinued on June 6, 2011. Probationers are now required to pay for their own Court Ordered Treatment.
