The Institutions Services Division serves the community by operating safe, compassionate, and cost-effective residential facilities for youth in the juvenile justice system. Institutions provides housing and programming designed to help youth make positive and healthy choices when they return home. In order to keep youth on track with their education, we partner with The San Mateo County of Education to provide classes on regular school days.

The Division operates two residential spaces for court-involved youth:

The Juvenile Hall and Girls’ Camp are operated in compliance with the California Board of State and Community Corrections regulations and according to best practices in juvenile corrections. The Division also operates the Community Care Program, in which youth serve part of their custody time by working on weekend landscaping and building improvement projects.
