The County of San Mateo has appointed Michelle Durand as Chief Communications Officer, County Manager John Maltbie announced Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at 10 a.m. the Board of Supervisors will hold a workshop to set priorities for a two-year budget for Fiscal Years (FY) 2015-17, including the allocation of Measure A funds.
San Mateo County for fiscal years 2013-2015 will spend more than half a billion dollars of federal, state and local funds for programs that directly benefit children and their families, according to the newly released San Mateo County Children, Youth and Family Budget.
The Children’s Fund of San Mateo County needs help providing approximately 1,000 children with new backpacks and school supplies in time for the new school year. “Low-income and foster children need our help to ensure they start the school year prepared and ready to learn,” stated Children’s Fund Coordinator Rebecca Asch. “Every child should have the opportunity to succeed in the classroom and not be held back by circumstances over which they have no control.”
Today, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution to establish California’s first county or city commission focused on the needs of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) community.
