Redwood City – San Mateo County officials hailed the proposed decision issued Friday by a California Public Utilities Commission Administrative Law Judge to reject a proposal by AT&T that that judge says could threaten vulnerable residents during wildfires and other emergencies.

To get the word out, County officials are expanding efforts to raise awareness and dispel myths about CalFresh, which helps low-income households increase their food-buying power to meet their household’s nutritional needs.
Redwood City – A campaign to build safe and affordable housing for coastal farmworkers got a nearly $6 million boost today. San Mateo County supervisors voted 5-0 to allocate $5,999,360 towards buying and installing 47 manufactured homes for farmworkers and their families, including 19 households displaced after the Jan. 23, 2023, mass shooting. The homes will be located on five acres about a mile from downtown Half Moon Bay just south of Highway 1.
Redwood City – San Mateo County supervisors today approved an ordinance to promote racial and social equity in delivering public services and within the organization.
Mirada Surf East is currently closed while air curtain burners are in use to dispose of logs and debris from Quarry Park.
Some trails remain closed due to damage from winter storms. Toyon Campground are closed and without water. Werder Playground is closed for construction.
We are treating up to 100 acres of dense fire fuels in Quarry Park. Some trail closures will occur, Monday through Friday.
Redwood City – San Mateo County is soliciting input and collaboration for implementation of California Senate Bill 43, which makes significant changes to the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act – a law governing involuntary detention, treatment and conservatorship of people with behavioral health conditions.
Ongoing closures at Coyote Point Recreation Area include the Beach Center, trails, and a restroom in the Eucalyptus area of the park.
Youth Camp Trail Closed. On weekdays between April 11 and May 15, weather permitting, workers will be at San Bruno Mountain treating invasive weed species.
Redwood City – As home prices and rents have shot up – and homelessness is at “crisis” levels in California – federal support for local housing assistance and homelessness prevention is at a 30-year low.
The northern portion of the Sawyer Camp segment will be closed through October 2024.
