The San Mateo County Family Justice Center will be a services, advocacy, and support hub for individuals and families affected by interpersonal violence. As part of the Center’s formation, we are establishing a Survivors Advisory Committee (SAC).
The Survivors Advisory Committee provides input, lived experience, and guidance to ensure the Family Justice Center’s programs, services, and outreach efforts reflect the needs and voices of survivors in our community. Members will offer a unique perspective on our Center’s programming and identify gaps in services. Members will also be able to provide feedback on initiatives, and work to strengthen trust between service providers and those with lived experience.
Though the Advisory Committee will not be a support group, we hope to foster strong and trusting relationships among members.
We are committed to ensuring that committee membership reflects the diversity of our community, including (but not limited to) survivors who identify as:
- Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking
- Formerly incarcerated women
- Male survivors
- LGBTQIA+ survivors
- Tribal community members
- Individuals from rural, immigrant, or limited-English-speaking communities
- Survivors with disabilities
If you are interested in participating, please fill out the brief survey linked here by December 6th, 2026. We will follow up with you shortly after that date with additional details about attending an informational session and completing an application for the Committee.
If you are a community organization providing services to or otherwise working with those affected by intimate partner violence, we encourage you to extend this invitation to your networks or, where appropriate, directly to individuals for whom this Committee may be a valuable opportunity. Informational flyers are attached below, in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Tagalog.
