Eastside College Prep High School
1041 Myrtle St
East Palo Alto, CA 94303
Come and hear about what playing sports used to be like for African Americans before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier from a local who was part of history! East Palo Alto Mayor Larry Moody will have a fireside chat with Bob Hoover/"Uncle Bob." Uncle Bob was the first African American Baseball player to play at Penn State; he went on to play in the Negro League with all of the Negro League greats. Following this conversation, the movie, #42 The Story of Jackie Robinson, will be shown in its entirety. It is a terrific movie and will be all the more meaningful once you've had a chance to hear from Bob Hoover and ask questions. This is brought to you as part of the Black History Experience Month series.
