This is a special, all-volunteer event that brings the community together to "Keep it Clean!" Volunteers are needed!
To address illegal dumping issues in the North Fair Oaks community, the County of San Mateo is launching at the annual Be Seen Keepin’ It Clean event “Report It! SMC,” a mobile app and web-based platform that makes it quick and easy to report illegal dumping directly into the Department of Public Works’ workflow. Youth ambassadors and County staff will engage the community and answer questions about “Report It! SMC” at the event while volunteers remove waste and debris from public areas in the neighborhood.
Join in the fun and make a difference in the community! Wear your clean-up clothes, recruit your family and friends and create a team! (Singles are welcome!). We'll start the day off with coffee and juice and pan dulce. Then teams will head out to clean a designated route with your "captain" and trash collecting equipment that we provide. When your area's done, all the teams will gather at the Fair Oaks Community Center for a burrito lunch on the back patio! The food is free - in thanks for your gift of service.
There will be booths, information and a drawing for three great prizes for those who participate in the Clean-Up! Students can earn community service hours, too!
